Capture Your Calls: How to Record Google Meet Sessions on Any Device (PC, Mac & Mobile)
Need to record a Google Meet session for later review, note-taking, or sharing? Google Meet offers built-in recording for desktop (PC & Mac) and there are workarounds for mobile. Here's a platform-by-platform guide to capturing your Google Meet sessions:

Recording on PC & Mac (Web or Desktop App):
This is the most direct and feature-rich method, leveraging Google Meet's built-in recording.
Start or Join the Meeting: Be the meeting organizer or ensure recording permissions are granted.
Initiate Recording: During the meeting, click the "Activities" icon (triangle, circle, square shapes) in the bottom right corner. Select "Recording" then "Start recording".
Consent Prompt: Google Meet will announce to all participants that recording has started. Everyone must be aware of and consent to being recorded.
Conduct Meeting: Proceed with your Google Meet session as usual.
Stop Recording: Click "Activities" > "Recording" > "Stop recording". Or, the meeting organizer can end the recording after the meeting concludes.
Recording Processing & Access: The recording will be processed and saved to the meeting organizer's Google Drive in a "Meet Recordings" folder. An email with the recording link is also sent to the organizer and the person who started the recording.
Recording on Mobile (Android & iOS):
Google Meet mobile apps do not have a direct built-in recording feature like the desktop version. You'll need to use your device's screen recording functionality:
Start or Join Meeting on Mobile.
Start Screen Recording:
Android: Swipe down from the top of the screen to access Quick Settings. Look for "Screen Record" or similar. Start screen recording. Ensure your device's screen recorder can capture internal audio – settings may vary.
iPhone (iOS 11+): Access Control Center (swipe down or up). Long-press the Screen Recording icon and tap "Start Broadcast." Ensure microphone is optionally ON/OFF depending if you want your own voice separately recorded by screen record vs only meeting audio.
Conduct Meeting.
Stop Screen Recording: Stop the screen recording using your device's controls (usually via notification or control center).
Find Recording: The screen recording (video with audio) will be saved to your device's Photos or Gallery app.
Important Considerations for Recording Google Meet:
Permission is Key: Always obtain consent from all participants before recording. Transparency is crucial.
Meeting Organizer's Role: Usually, only the meeting organizer or someone within the organizer's organization can start recordings via the built-in feature.
Storage: Built-in recordings are stored in Google Drive, impacting your storage quota. Screen recordings on mobile are stored on your device.
Ethical Use: Use recordings responsibly and only for legitimate purposes (meeting minutes, review, training, etc.).
By following these steps, you can capture Google Meet sessions across devices, ensuring important information is preserved and easily accessible. Remember to prioritize participant consent and use recordings ethically.
