How to Enable Live Transcription in Google Meet

To enable live transcription in Google Meet, join or start your meeting as usual. Look for the "Activities" icon (triangle, circle, and square shapes) in the bottom right corner. If you don't see it, click on the "More options" menu (three vertical dots "...").

If you see "Activities," click on it, then select "Captions." If using "More options," look for "Turn on captions" and click it. Live transcription will begin immediately.

You may be prompted to select a language for transcription. Choose the primary spoken language in the meeting. Captions will then appear at the bottom of the Google Meet window in real-time.

Captions are visible only to you, and other participants must enable them individually. Accuracy depends on audio quality, speech clarity, and background noise. Availability may vary based on Google Workspace edition and settings.

Live captions are not saved automatically. If you need a transcript, consider recording the meeting and processing the audio separately.
